Home-made Tomato Ketchup with Ale-Gar

1.5kg ripe (organic) English tomatoes 

½ tablespoon English mustard powder 

6 tablespoon Demerara sugar

250ml Ale-Gar 

3 cloves 

1 bay leaf

1 clove garlic (crushed) 

1 red chilli pepper 

1 tablespoon tomato purée 

 
Method:

Method 
1. Place the Vinaigre and sugar in a heavy based pan and bring to the boil 

2. Add the tomatoes and all the remaining ingredients and bring back to simmer 

3. Stir gently for 30-35mins, stirring occasionally 

4. Remove the bay leaf and place all the ingredients into a food processor 

5. Blitz and pour through a sieve, this may be stored in sterilized bottles in a cold location for several weeks
